REGISTRATION

  • Online Registration with BikeReg

    • All competitors are encouraged to register online.

    • Start times are determined by registration time stamp.

    • First rider starts at 11:00am, then in 1-minute increments.

    • One-Day licenses and Juniors can register on day of event(s).

    • $5 same-day registration fee (N/A to Men Cat 5, Women Cat 4, One-Day license or Juniors).

  • Onsite registration:

    • Omnium & all races thereafter:

      • July 2nd, opens 8:00am & closes 10:30am (NO EXCEPTIONS!)

  • Valid USAC (USCF) License required www.usacycling.org

    • Present valid drivers license along with valid USAC license

    • All USAC One-Day license racers are those who do not hold a yearly license (fee is $10 per day and obtained only on-site):

      • Men Juniors register 10-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18

      • Women Juniors register 10-14, 15-18

      • Men over 19 register as Men Cat 5

      • Men Cat 5 over 40 can race under Masters age category*

      • Women under 40, register as Women Cat 4, or can race under Masters age category*

      • * typically, all new racers are only allowed to race Men Cat 5 or Women Cat 4 in mass start events such as road races & criteriums.  Since time trials are not considered mass start races, but a race against the clock, Men Cat 5 can compete within their respective age category if over the age of 40.

  • Payment:

    • All racers can enter and do not have to be a VA resident to race.

    • NO Mail-in entries. NO refunds. NO entry swapping or selling.

    • 2010 VA BAR champions:  register online only.  Must wear 2010 VA BAR jersey in event to receive reimbursement (minus $3 USAC and $1 VA BAR fees) check by mail.

    • Pre-registered racers:  must have printed online registration receipt, download USAC waiver & SIGN IT!, Games waivers & SIGN IT!, valid USCF and drivers license which must be presented 30 minutes prior to the start of your event.

    • One-Day registering racers: must have FILLED & SIGNED USAC and Games waivers, valid USCF and drivers license.

    • Cash or check accepted made to RCO (Roanoke Cycling Organization) for registration, USAC One-Day license or renewal.  For your identity protection, NO CREDIT CARDS!!!

  •  VA BAR: 

    • All racers must indicate which VA BAR category you wish your points to be applied for each race at registration before you compete, not after completing your event!

    • If seeking to earn points in another category, you must register and race that category.

RACE 1 RULES

All races adhere to the USAC Rulebook & VA BAR points

  • Highlighted Rules

    • DO NOT RIDE/WARM UP ON THE COURSE!!!  Use Walnut Ave/JP Fishburn Parkway to return or warm up, also use Roanoke River Greenway to warm up.

    • Must wear helmet at all times: racing, warming up, sitting on, standing over, anytime on your bike!  The only exception is while on stationary rollers or trainer.  USAC officials will enforce this rule!

    • Helmets mandatory at all times participating or preparing for the event. All participants mounted on a bicycle shall wear a securely fastened helmet that meets either the US DOT helmet standards or one of the following standards: ANSI, Snell "B" or "N" series, ASTM, CSA, or CPSC

    • No urinating in public - designated areas only (Port-O-Pats).  You will be disqualified if you are caught urinating in public - ZERO TOLERANCE!  NO REFUNDS!  NO EXCEPTIONS!

    • Unsportsmanlike behavior will also result in disqualification: foul language to other participants, spectators, law enforcement, volunteers and race officials; also pushing, punching, biting, kicking and hair pulling

  • Oakeys $300 record breaker bonus!  Must break the 8m29s (corrected) record set by Brian Walton

  • King and Queen of the Mountain top prize for fastest posted time of the day:

  • Coventry Commonwealth Games of Virginia: Gold, Silver, Bronze medals for the following TT categories (all racers are grouped by age):

    • Men: 10-12; 13-14; 15-16; 17-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60+

    • Women: 10-14; 15-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60+

    • Pro racers are not eligible for any Games medals.

  • VA BAR Qualifying Races

    • Any racer can acquire VA BAR points (except Men Cat 5).

    • Cat 3 VA BAR Points are awarded in the Men Cat 3/4 Criteriums only.

    • All competitors must register, compete and place in respective category to earn points.  Please review the 2011 VA BAR Rules at www.vacycling.org

  • Take note:

    • Daily awards listed above in schedule of events per category, no cash payout for individual races, only the Omnium!

    • Must register no later than 10:30am for ID3 Points Omnium payout.

Time Trial Start (from 301 Reserve): Walnut Ave & Belleview Ave

Use the Roanoke River Greenway to ride on over to the start and warm up!

DO NOT PARK AT START, park at gravel parking lot across and down from hotel on Reserve Avenue.

Race 1 text directions from US 220/I-581:

From southbound, take Wonju Ave/Colonial Exit.
Stay right on ramp which merges onto Colonial Ave.
Stay in right lane and at traffic light, turn right onto Colonial Ave.
Stay on Colonial Ave, at 2nd traffic light, take right onto Brandon Ave.
On Brandon Ave, in left lane, take left onto Franklin Road (US-220 Business)
On Franklin Road, at next traffic light, take right onto Reserve Avenue.
Registration immediately on left, parking at gravel parking lot across and down from hotel on Reserve Avenue.

From northbound, take Wonju St Ramp to Colonial Ave.
Stay in right lane and at traffic light, turn right onto Colonial Ave.
Stay on Colonial Ave, at 2nd traffic light, take right onto Brandon Ave.
On Brandon Ave, in left lane, take left onto Franklin Road (US-220 Business)
On Franklin Road, at next traffic light, take right onto Reserve Avenue.
Registration and parking on right.

Parking: Use  parking area at Roanoke City Parks & Recreation building, legally on streets or paid parking lots.  Please read all parking signs.  DO NOT PARK AT START OF TIME TRIAL!!!
